What is Vaazhvaadharam?

People migrating from rural areas to urban cities in search of Employment Opportunities is not something new in India.

But the amount of exposure and resources necessary to develop Employable skills is fairly low among the rural segment. Hence most of these youths undertake unskilled labour roles, missing out on a huge segment of vacant opportunities in the skilled labour segment.

“Vaazhvadhaaram” is an initiative to increase the employable skills of these rural youth to find their place in the Urban Job Market and start their Self Employment Journey.

NFN volunteers reach out to the rural edges of Tamil Nadu and identify the youth who are bogged down by poverty and provide them with the necessary training and financial help for developing employable skills like driving, welding, nursing, heavy machinery operation etc.

Vaazhvadhaaram’s Selection Criteria

Our NFN’s volunteers personally visit the rural edges of Tamil Nadu and build a personal rapport with the community and identify deserving candidates. For the Vaazhvadhaaram program, candidates undergo a strict screening process, and greater preference is given to orphaned youths, youths from single-parent households and below-poverty-line families.

During the screening process, our Volunteers identify the interests, existing skill levels and character of the youth and channel them to develop a skill complimenting their existing skillsets.

Vaazhvaadharam’s Achievements

The Vazhvadharam Project was started in 2019, and so far, the program has impacted more than 500+ Rural Youths by giving them valuable skillsets to build their career and uplift their living standards.

• In 2021, 50 Rural Girls from economically weaker sections of Tamil Nadu were identified and given training Nursing Training and placed in clinics, Hospitals and Health Centers all over India.
• In 2022, 100+ Rural Girls were trained in Nursing as per international standards and placed in Gulf countries like Dubai, UAE etc.
• In 2022, 200 Rural boys from economically weaker classes were identified from 10 districts of Tamil Nadu (20 per district) and aided them in training and procuring their Commercial Driving Licenses. These boys were placed all over India in the Logistics and Transport departments of Factories and Multinational Companies all over India.

Our Plans for “Vaazhvaadharam 2023”

For the year 2023, we have raised our bars and have decided to find 50 youths from 10 districts (Youths from Rural and underdeveloped villages in each section) and provide them with the necessary training and assistance to get their Commercial Driving License (Commercial 4 Wheelers, Trucks, Buses etc.)

Acquiring these skills and Driving licenses will enable these youth to offer valuable services to the transportation and logistics industries. These industries have had surplus demand for Drivers in recent years due to the massive upscaling of these industries.

At Nourishment for Needy, we also provide placement support to these youths with our vast network of donors across India.

The cost of training and procuring driving assistance has been discussed in the following table.

With contributions from our donors increasing every year the Vaazhvaadharam project increases its scale and reach uplifting the lives of rural youths below the poverty line. Upon our successful projects in the previous years 100+ youths are reaching out to our team every day seeking for help. With out the contributions of our donors our service to these youths becomes impossible as significant financial investment is necessary to arrange these training programs.
